Overview

Located in the bustling heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown, Junk Cafe @ Chinatown KL offers a vibrant fusion of comfort food with a gourmet touch. Nestled at Jalan Petaling, this casual yet thoughtfully curated spot is perfect for urban food enthusiasts seeking hearty meals with a twist. The atmosphere blends the energetic street vibe of Chinatown with a cozy, modern interior that invites both locals and tourists alike.

The highlight here is their pasta selection, which showcases skillful Italian influences. The Beef Meatball Bolognese stands out, featuring juicy meatballs simmered in a rich tomato and herb sauce, served over perfectly al dente pasta and finished with fresh basil and parmesan. For those preferring a vegetarian option, the Basil Bliss Pesto offers a creamy, fragrant experience with its blend of pesto sauce and parmesan, striking a satisfying balance between simple and luxurious.

For adventurous palates, the Duck Aglio Olio is a delightful take on the classic Italian dish, combining tender duck with aromatic garlic, olive oil, and a hint of chili heat. It exemplifies the restaurant’s knack for elevating familiar flavors with unexpected ingredients.

The tapas menu offers equally enticing choices, especially the Sweet & Spicy Korean Chicken Wings. Crispy wings glazed in a perfectly balanced gochujang-based sauce bring a complex mix of sweet, heat, and umami, making it an ideal starter or shareable bite. The Prawn Gambas, served sizzling with toasted bread, brings a Mediterranean flair—succulent prawns infused with garlic, white wine, and chili create a rich, flavorful dish that complements the pasta offerings.

Health-conscious diners will appreciate the fresh, vibrant salads. The Mediterranean Salad combines crisp lettuce with charred vegetables and pickled onion, while the Grilled Chicken Salad adds smoky sundried tomatoes and parmesan for an extra layer of texture and taste.

Junk Cafe @ Chinatown KL caters to those who appreciate bold flavors, quality ingredients, and a lively yet approachable dining experience. Whether stopping by for a casual lunch, an intimate dinner, or a social gathering, this spot delivers a satisfying journey through comforting dishes reinvented with flair, all amidst the colorful backdrop of one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic neighborhoods.

Great bar cafe with a chill vibe for gatherings. I really liked the beef burger (full of junk)! It was very nice and the beef was juicy. The bar has a good selection of drinks and a nice atmosphere. Would visit again!

Food is surprisingly good and very tasty. But sweet potatoes fries don't feel pair right with the sloppy delicious burger. Environment look messy rather then "junk" as name More a bar than cafe setup One toilet, but very clean Staff service is good, but smelled horrible… Very good deal frm eatigo. Good place to revisit even without offer

A hidden gem in Chinatown! Super convenient location near Pasar Seni MRT. Love the vintage-meets-Asian decor — feels quirky, nostalgic, and full of character. Live band after 8:30pm is the real highlight; great vibe with a mix of locals and tourists. Food ranges from brunch to late-night bites, and the menu is surprisingly varied. Perfect spot to unwind, chat, and enjoy the atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Cool bar/ eatery in Chinatown. We went for lunch and had nasi lamak and a dry curry dish. The curry was a stand out. Super flavourful and perfectly spicy. My partner loved the nasi lamak. I had a chilli/ mango cocktail and it left a spicy kick, also wasn't too sweet. The decor is really cool. That is what bright us in. Prices are reasonable for a touristy spot.

Had the cheeseburger and korean chicken burger yesterday and it was honestly one of the best in Chinatown KL. Juicy, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The bun was soft and fresh, and the chicken were crispy and not oily. Service was friendly even though it was quite busy. Definitely coming back again!

Across the street from the Happy Tapir vegetarian restaurant, less expensive and more choices for this USA tourist. Good prices, local dishes and bar food. Now: Drink prices increase after 800pm.

Had a great time at Junk Café @ Chinatown KL! The food was really tasty – loved the Bangkok fried rice and the cheese burger. The ambience is cozy with a cool vintage vibe, and the live band performance made the night even better. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!
